Nerlens Noel Signs $3.1 Million Deal with Sacramento Kings

Former Brooklyn Nets and Detroit Pistons Center Reunites with Knicks Head Coach Tom Thibodeau

Noel Inks One-Year, Non-Guaranteed Contract, Bolstering Kings' Frontcourt Depth

In a move that adds depth to their frontcourt, the Sacramento Kings have signed veteran center Nerlens Noel to a one-year, $3.1 million contract, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. The deal includes a team option for the 2023-24 season.

Noel, a 10-year NBA veteran, has spent time with the Philadelphia 76ers, Dallas Mavericks, Oklahoma City Thunder, and New York Knicks before joining the Kings. Known for his defensive prowess, the 29-year-old center has averaged 7.4 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks per game throughout his career.

Despite playing sparingly for the Nets and Pistons in 2022-23, Noel's addition to Sacramento brings experience and defensive intensity to the team. He reunites with Knicks head coach Tom Thibodeau, who coached him in New York from 2020 to 2022. The Kings also have the option of waiving Noel before the start of the 2023-24 season, which would save them approximately $2.9 million in cap space.

Noel's signing comes as the Kings continue to rebuild their roster under new general manager Mike Brown. The former Kentucky standout joins a frontcourt that includes Domantas Sabonis, Richaun Holmes, and Chimezie Metu. With his versatility and championship pedigree, Noel is expected to contribute immediately to Sacramento's quest for a playoff berth.
