Starting Pitcher Injured in Car Accident

Redwood Pioneers' ace pitcher, Blake Perkins, will be out of the lineup Friday due to injuries sustained in a car accident.

The extent of Perkins' injuries is still unknown, but he is expected to miss at least one start. The Pioneers are scheduled to face the San Jose Giants on Friday night at Excite Ballpark.

Perkins is a key member of the Pioneers' rotation and his absence will be a big blow to the team. The right-hander is 5-2 with a 3.20 ERA this season.

The Pioneers have not announced who will start in Perkins' place on Friday. Manager Dave Righetti could choose to promote a reliever to the starting rotation or he could go with a bullpen game.
