Brad Marchand Breaks Bruins Playoff Goals Record
Bruins Beat Maple Leafs, Move Closer to Series Win
Marchand Scores Winner, Bruins Take 2-1 Series Lead
Brad Marchand etched his name into the Boston Bruins' record books on Saturday night, scoring his 56th career playoff goal to break the franchise record previously held by Johnny Bucyk. The goal came in Game 4 of the Bruins' first-round playoff series against the Toronto Maple Leafs, and it helped Boston secure a 3-1 victory and move within one win of advancing to the second round.
Marchand's goal came in the third period with the Bruins clinging to a 2-1 lead. He took a pass from David Pastrnak and fired a wrist shot past Maple Leafs goaltender Frederik Andersen. The goal gave the Bruins some much-needed breathing room and helped them close out the game.
"Guys were committed," Marchand said of the Bruins' defensive structure after the game. "We wanted to make sure we didn't give them anything easy, and we did a good job of that."
Marchand now has four goals and two assists in the series against the Maple Leafs. He has been a key part of the Bruins' success so far, and he will need to continue to produce if they want to advance to the second round.
