## Coronavirus: Saalekreis with highest incidence nationwide - RKI reports 1,623 new infections ### Vaccination rate in the district remains low

The Saalekreis district in Saxony-Anhalt currently has the highest seven-day incidence of coronavirus infections nationwide. As the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) announced on Wednesday, the incidence there was 1,623.3 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants within seven days. This is an increase of more than 200 compared to the previous day.

The district has been struggling with high infection figures for weeks. The reasons for this are unclear. The vaccination rate in the district is relatively low. According to the RKI, only 63.5 percent of the population is fully vaccinated. This is significantly below the national average of 75.8 percent.
